Wizard of Oz?

It must have been a dream. Dorothy convinced me we should both run at 4:40am. We began on the yellow, leaf-lined road toward the village on a daring run through the starry night and down a windswept hill.
"Follow the 10k kick route" Dorothy said. So we did. Creatures of all sizes could attack us at any time. The village is a scary place at 5am, fortunately I had my trusty headlamp to light the way. I just wish Dorothy would stop calling me Toto and trust me to run without a leash!

As we ran up West Avenue, who would we spy coming up in the distance, but Glinda Good Witch. Smiling, as always, she offered us encouragement in our quest.

Continuing on our way, knowing Bernabi Hill loomed ahead, Dorothy said, "let's take the long way instead". The long way. I have short stubby legs, it's 5:15am, I don't want the long way. But being a loyal dog, I followed. We passed our home, it hadn't been swept away, the coffee was brewing. "Don't even think about stopping" Dorothy said. Don't believe everything you see in movies, Dorothy can be a severe task master! She yanked on my chain and we passed home, despite my groans of protest.

After running several more hills and the dark passages of Village Walk we completed the 10k kick (the long way) and I had had enough. "I'm heading home" I barked. Dorothy finally relented. Heading up the last long hill we see a group of three coming toward us. I cowered behind Dorothy. They were scary.

The CowardlyMerrittLion, TinmanLou, and Scarecrowein appeared like an apparition on the horizon. They were following the same Yellow Leafed Road, but in the opposite direction. Never trust a scarecrow to lead the way, especially one in a funny, yellow, fuzzy hat and tights.
Dorothy clicked her heels and got us out of there fast. She didn't want her Toto to be unduly influenced by the gang of three. As we came near home Dorothy undid me from the leash, let me in for coffee and continued on her merry way, skipping lightly down the street for another three miles.
What a woman.

  1. if you would have gone just a bit further you would have met the wizard and he would have told you that to get home all you needed to do was whine 3x with a very high pitched sound and you would be back in your warm bed in an instant
